The purpose of this travel study is to investigate the conceptual spatial systems applied in Viennese design processes. Specifically, external forces (site, social, cultural, government) and internal influences (performative, programmatic) will be identified and examined in order to determine how spatial organization impacts the building as a cohesive whole. Of special interest is the creation of dynamic space that is adaptive to the changing needs of a heterogeneous society.

Austria is a society of creation, seamlessly tying tradition and modernity. It is a nation that possesses a highly progressive outlook for design, promoting culturally sensitive innovative architectural solutions and embedding them into daily life and their rich historical surrounding.
