My name is Viridiana Hernandez Sevilla. I was born and raised in Cuernavaca Morelos, Mexico. I moved to the United States at the age of nine. I attended Norman North High School. I then completed a two-year program at Moore Norman Technology Center for CADD (Computer-Aided Drafting and Design), earning honors from the National Technical Honor Society. I’m currently in my second year of the architecture program at the University of Oklahoma and pursuing a minor in entrepreneurship. My goal is to graduate from the University of Oklahoma representing my Mexican heritage. Some of my personal interests include interior design and sustainability. My favorite hobbies are music, painting, and traveling. My biggest motivators for pursuing a college degree are my mother, helping others, and becoming an example of overcoming adversity for a better future.
My academic plans are to complete the architecture program at the University of Oklahoma and minor in entrepreneurship. With the help of the 2021 SOM Foundation Robert L. Wesley Award, I can continue to grow as a person by reaching for higher goals and dreams.

is a second-year architecture student at the University of Oklahoma. Hernandez Sevilla grew up in Mexico and came to the United States at a young age as a Dreamer. She hopes to become the first in her family to obtain a college degree and to one day own her own design-build firm. Because she has not been able to visit her home country, she dreams of working internationally and becoming an advocate for people who come from a similar background—showing that it is possible to achieve anything if you really push for it.
